Suzanne set up the Heywood Foundation, an independent charity, to continue to champion two of her late husband's passions - innovating public policy and increasing diversity within the public sector
The Heywood Foundation supports senior civil servants to take sabbaticals to think through major long-term public policy issues. It does this in collaboration with the Cabinet Office, the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford, Hertford College, Oxford and the ESRC
The Heywood Foundation also runs global competitions, open to everyone, to find new and innovative ways to improve public policy. The most recent winner of this competition suggested the idea of creating an 'NHS Reserve Force': something that has now been implemented by the UK government
